Abstract

Road freight in India plays a critical role in supporting the economic development of the country, accounting for almost 70% of the total freight transport. Truck drivers remain the backbone of this sector, with several job-related issues. Challenges related to delays in loading and unloading, documentation, long work hours, lack of communication and unavailability of resting places along the highways are key issues.
